We have location, but it's totally optional.
There are two options involved in that and the vast majority of YT users don't use these options. For a user to have their location shown, they have to put that location in their profile. To do that, they have to log into modern view and put in the location.
Then for the person who wants to see that on others profiles, they have to turn the option on. You do this by clicking on Options and checking the "View Details" option. We don't turn any of that on by default but leave it up to the individual if they want to see it.
On modern view, the location is automatically displayed. On classic view, it isn't because we've kept it close to how the software operated when people started using YT in the mid-90s.
