rich o 07-03-2012 17:49:08 66.220.233.8 Report to Moderator	help!!! my terrible blue smoke has stopped ,but has been replaced with haenous white /greyish smoke,very heavy., i hope the neighbors dont call the epa. it has also lost significant power and seems to be knocking and ideling rough, this has all happened after 7+ hours of light tedding on flat ground. i was advised not to do guides by the machine shop that did the valves .,something about losing the centers. so has my winter project become a nitemare when i really need it most?. i dont do alot of haying in the winter, after all this is vermont [Reply]   [No Email]

Did you check each one or did you just pound the sleeves and pistons in then torqued down the head? Re-used or new head fasteners? Some old fasteners won"t take a 2nd torquing and provide sufficient tension. Don"t putt around with a rebuild, take it out and work it. Must have been some sort or miss communication with the shop about the cylinder head. Install new guides then cut the seats true. Couldn"t imagine having the head off a gasser and not replace guides, new exhaust seats if required and a valve job. [Reply]  [No Email]

Try that first, if you still get white smoke pull the head, minimum head gasket is leaking, perhaps flipped upside down..or bad head gasket... I'd hate to think what else could be wrong..... I'd pull the head and see what's up. Do a quick compression test first before removing the head to see if you can identify where the main problem is. Could just be bad/incorrect head gasket. Could have been getting oil in that way - followed by water later. [Reply]  [No Email]
