i put in a new balist resistor and a new ceramic resistor and new 12v coil front mount 9n. the creamic inline resistor smoked and burnt and then burnt the new balist resistor and coil. ALL new parts from here. This is the second time. With this all hooked up corretly, it wont start due to no power at the coil. Ard 1.5 volts. After bypassing the ceramic resistor, i get 12 volts to the coild and it runs for about 10 minutes and then dies, (burnt up coil) |

| Of course it quit running in 10 minutes. Applying 13.8V to a 4V or 6V coil will do that. Coil may say 12V but it's intended for a 12V system with a ballast resistor. Measure the "12" volt coil's primary resistance, some are actually 6V coils. So may people rush out there with a 12V single wire alternator and think they are going to enjoy a better and trouble free existence. |

| | you didn't mention amperage readings in any of your posts. 'ceramic' resistor? what value.. they make nearly all values.. too high and no spark.. too low and everything burns up... |
