I'm having trouble removing the pin from the shaft to pull off the drive see if the spring inside is broken. My tractor has been converted to 12 volt and my starter does not match the one in the manual I have. Do you know if there is a trick to remove the pin? I was hitting it pretty hard and made no progress... Thanks |

| | a lil washer sets over the pin.. you have to hold the washer down. in any case.. if the starter spins but drive doesn't suck in, make sur ethe shaft is clean.. spray cleaner like carb spray the shaft and drive. next buff the mating place the starter hits the bellhousing.. then make sure all yer cables and connections are good. NO LUBE on the shaft or drive.. lube creates drag.. drag makes for slower speed.. slow speed makes it not travel and engage.. post back |

| I got it off and a new one on. Put it back on the tractor and it started right up. Thanks for the help! |
