They were shot and the wheel and rim needed a lot of cleaning. They are HEAVY, about 450 pounds each so need care in handling, not too bad once tyres are on as you have a better lever-arm but if they tip far you cannot hold them. [Reply]  [No Email]

If it is then make sure you get ALL the rust and dirt out of the groove and on the rings before you put it together. Then when you air it up, take a clip on air chuck and clip it on, then stand off to one side and turn the air on, so if it comes apart your not leaning over it. [Reply]  [No Email]

These wheels are different in that the rims are complete and attach to the wheel with the ring Athol made reference to. However, if I take these apart, they will need to be clean. There is a wedge ring (not complete as has a small gap in the circumference) fitting round most of the wheel on the inside between the steel rim and the cast iron wheel, i.e. they fitted the steel rim on the cast iron wheel, the wheel locates the rim on the outer side and then the ring-like wedge is driven in the gap on the inner side of the wheel. Getting the wedge out would be an act then if the ring comes out in one piece you could probably drive it back in again. [Reply]  [No Email]

Tha parts book doesn"t show a ring but it makes sense for keeping the rim on. I take it then that tire changing was done on the tractor because of the weight of the wheels. Thanks a lot!
