drive the tractor out to the roadside and park nose down in the ditch.. pull the 4 bolts at the rear, slide the pto shaft and beairng carrier out, clean the flange mating surface with a razor blade, slide new pto shaft and bearing carrier assembly in with new gasket, repalce bolts, drive tractor back to barn.

say? 15 minutes if you work slow?

only hitch is if the old shaft is twisted befor ethe hyd pump, then it will be a real chore as you have to cut the shaft, drop the pump, driv ethe slug out, clean out everything, then renew gaskets and refill with oil after replacing shaft.

this assumes you will be replacing the shaft as an assembly.. if only the shaft itself.. once you get the assembly out, remove the snap ring on back, tap the pto stub end down on a block of wood so the bearing carrier falls of.. then you might want to repalce seal and bearing.. etc. easier to get the assembly if the seal and bearing are shot too.

ps..would of got faster response on the ford board!

ok, that sounds easy enough. I think? at any rate I guess its worth a shot and if I can't get it, I'll take it over to Ford / New Holland.

Thanks,

Shawn
