I'm trying to replace the muffler on my John Deere M. The old neck has mated so tight into the manifold its like its one piece. I'm afraid to beet on it anymore than I have. Does this mean I need to take the manifold off the engine and cut away the pipe bit by bit? Any ideas? |

| im not familiar with the jd m exhaust, but if the pipe threads into the manifold, they are not too bad to get out. on one of my farmall m's, i cut the pipe about 1/2 inch above the manifold with a sawzall. then take a hacksaw blade and cut some vertical cuts about half way thru the thickness of the pipe, careful not to go thru the threads. then take a chisel and fold the pipe in toward the center. it should break along the cut lines and pop right out. |
