I have a Farmall H that is leaking from the bull shaft on both sides. I can get the break drums off but cannot get the plate off of the main transmission case behind the drums to get at the seals. If I use a torch to heat the plate will I damage anything else? or is there another way to go about it... |

| | Another trick to removing seals is to put a screw into it and pull on that. Did that when I changed the brake seals in my Oliver 1600 and it worked great. Used the truck on a few other jobs as well with the same good results. Donovan from Wisconsin |

| | STOP RIGHT NOW!!! Those "plates" are actually the carrier for the bull pinion bearings. To remove these carriers the bull gears in the rear end must be removed or at least dropped down out of the way of the carrier. Many sad stories on here about broken ones. To remove the seals, use a slide hammer puller or your choice of chisels, punches, picks etc to remove the seals without pulling the carriers. |
