jd g help 03-02-2013 15:11:27 72.154.11.30 Report to Moderator	I acquired a g with pistons that was extended in length. It has the cyclone head with the eyebrow cut back. The head was already on the tractor and the previous owner put a 1 inch dome on the piston. He stated that the piston was very close to beig even with the block. I finished it and it runs nice until it warms up. Then with acceleration it hammers in the crank area. I know it detonating I am only running 93octane right now. What other type fuel would you try? Wonder what the compression ratio is now? Head has not been planed and has a magneto. Thanks for any help. [Reply]   [No Email]

jd 70 puller 03-02-2013 16:18:50 69.129.14.114 Report to Moderator	Re: model g compression in reply to jd g help, 03-02-2013 15:11:27   What is the cranking psi,get the engine warm and take both plugs out and put throttle at full throttle and crank over several times until compression gets to its highest then write down and check the other side. Factory was around 60, with M&W pistons around 90-120. A Good torque and hp engine should be around 200 psi you might be there. Did you try to retard distributer? [Reply]  [No Email]
