Some people tell me they pull good up threw 4000 but the vacs that ive seen only pull good in 3000 then run out of power in 3500. There was a vac that pulled in a 3250 class in a natpa pull in kansas but finished last way behind the lead and i thought that would be a good class for him. [Reply]   [No Email]

My VAC does relatively well in local "brush" pulls up to 3250. In a 2750 class it is definitely at its best. The Wichita pull was the first passes I made after basically rebuilding the tractor from the bellhousing back. Dad and I had just installed the 12/67 pinion and bull gears thinking it would really help it out in the 3250 class. They didn"t make as much difference as I had hoped they would. It was like bringing a knife to a gun fight. The tractor come out of gear on the first pass, and the second pass it ran out of power. I would think it would do better in the Div 2 3000 pound class, but you are still at a disadvantage to other tractors that are bigger even if they are kept stock cubic inches. I don"t even know if that is where it would belong. With me being over 200 pounds, it isn"t possible to make 2500 for me. It boils down to how much you want to spend on one and who shows up to pull in your class. For a low dollar puller, I think my VAC does as well as any other VAC I have ever seen other than a 201 powered rig, but even if I wanted to spend to money to bore and stroke an engine, a VAC isn"t where I would put my money. -Adam   [Reply]  [No Email]

Not enough room for much stroke in them. In my opinion a VAC needs to stay in the 2750 or 3000# class. The VAC you are talking about I know well and it does good at that weight. The trouble with a VAC also is weight, you have to get pretty aggressive on stripping to get a VAC light. Also the gearing is pretty fast when going to 38" tires and keeping the speed down. I am from Missouri and it is the show me state and I would have to see for my self a VAC with a stock block be competitive in 4000# class. NATPA won't allow a 201 in a VAC. That would make one get up with the leaders.   [Reply]  [No Email]

I was talking about my VAC that I built to pull local pulls and dose well in 3000 3500 but is a little out powered in 4000 noncut but can get a win now and then! My VAC has a NATPA WIN in 3000 Div 2 and a second in 3250 div 3 at tallmadge Oh but that's a weak track com paired to the other NATPA Tracks I been to! Cliff S   [Reply]  [No Email]

They also can't use a longer engine (Olie 77/88, Case VAC/201, IH 560/Red Dismond) unless Division 5.   [Reply]  [No Email]
