rustred 01-01-2013 16:27:45 70.28.245.11 Report to Moderator	i use champion d16's. all i hear is their junk, have proved to my self that they are a better built plug. i was changing plugs in my 400 which had autolites. one was siezed and broke off. i removed it with an easy out. what i found was the body was way thinner than the champions. and i also have found more faulty autolites then champions in my tractors so thats my reason to stick with champion. and also thats what they came with. and also i like the silver finish on them . thats my reasons. Is a different and troublesome animal than the mostly reliable plain non resistor Champion. That said and even though I'm not a Ford fan per say. But I do keep Autolite 3116, 216 and 437 plugs on hand. Solid core plug wires too.   [Reply]  [No Email]

rustred 01-01-2013 21:04:10 70.28.245.11 Report to Moderator	Re: IH H spark plugs in reply to Nick from MD, 01-01-2013 20:16:45   it all depends on what you are doing with the tractor. for putsing around the yard stop and go ... yes. but in the field working under full load its d16 as the tractor came from factory with. i use mine in the field also. everyone jumps on the band wagon and bashes champions all the time without giving a reason or any proof of plug failures. i tryed both and have better luck with champions. another example i have is... i bought a massey 44 on auction sale they did not start it. i then started it and it was missing but what to do now, so i started to drive it home about 60 miles. it just kept missing and only running on 2 cyl's. so i drove into another farmers yard and asked if he had any old spark plugs i could buy cause i saw he had a d case sitting there. he gave me 2 used d16's from that case and i put them in the massey that had autolites which 2 were dead . then the massey ran like a top all the way home. paid 400.00 for the massey and drove it home 60 miles.   [Reply]  [No Email]

The hottest plug that doesn't cause detonation is whats desired. Old Chiltons manuals have nice pictures of plugs describing how to 'read' the plugs & determine proper mixture & plug heat range.
