 like the other two have said, mine is bolted to the frame via the row of holes right under the grills (if styled). it is made of 4 inch flat bar, 1/2 inch thick, and sticks out in front of the steering column by about 18-24 inches. obviously you can make it quicker to attach/detach by using hitch pins through the frame and bracket instead of bolts. but you can hang weights off the side of the bracket as well as out the end so it can hold at least 1000+ lb. (if you find that necessary). hopefully this picture helps
