For conversion sake, lets say the tire size is 18.4x38 6 ply on a 3500-5500lb. tractor at 500ci. in 8-12mph pulling classes. Type of soil could be anything and everything. (Pictures) in reply to Fleetline, 11-15-2012 19:06:39   i've looked into this a lot over the years and here seems to be the way it goes: Regular cut (top picture) - works best on antiques or tractors moving 15 mph or slower roughly. very versatile tire. Double cuts (2nd pic) - best on very high wheel speed tractors. the whole idea behind that type of cut is to give less traction so you can go up a gear and keep them spinning. they also pile up less dirt in front of the pan of the sled. V-cut (3rd pic) - best from 15 mph up, but hook harder than a double cut and pile up a little more dirt. New style cut (bottom pic) - don't seem to see much difference in those and the old style like the 1st pic, except that a lot of those tires are softer because they're not as old. For the tractor you mentioned in those weight classes and that speed, I'd recommend the old style in the 1st pic. [Reply]  [No Email]

(Pictures) in reply to my experience, 11-16-2012 13:36:07   from my experience i had a set of 18.4x38 single v cuts on a moline running 8mph and they hooked up good on a hard clay track and a god biting track. they didnt like a real wet track. i pulled 6000 and 6500 lb class.
