Gary i did not maen to affend you in any way i really like you but you have look at things from my prospective i spent a weekend at a pull with you and 500 in gas and motel have tried to get you to build me a motor or at least point me in the right direction and you don't seem to be interested in either one but every time someone asks a question on here about building a massey motor you want them to get ahold of you what about me? Is their money greener than mine or do you just not like me? In any case it doesn't matter if thats the way it has to be you are very knowledgable i would never take anything away from you but you are not the only one who has knowledge on engines i will have a massey puller and if you don't want to help or do it i will do it on my own there are plenty other people running massey from other builder.I hope you don't take this the wrong way but i am dissapointed in your actions toward me.Sincerely john b hartwick

| | John - You are right. It is completely my fault that you don't know what you want. Good luck on your engine build and/or tractor purchase... Regards, Goldsburg |

I know 4.5 by 7 is pretty easy. 445 cid. More is possible. At that level you def. need a better manifold, big zenith carb, bigger valves, port and polish. better gov spring dont hurt either.

a 4020 gas piston or 3020 are both 4.25 bore the wrist pin size is identical to the massey the must be gas because the diesel pistons have a dish and a different wrist pin size i had a guy heliarc weld domes on my pistons for me and then i sanded em on a postal scale til they were all the same weight my 312 with 16.9.38 tires would pull in second but would stall out at the end of track with 15.5.38 or 14.9.38 i think it would do it in 2nd also need a homemade manifold and a large zenith carb good cam and head job i am in the process of building a 44 motor now don't know how big but hoping for at least 450 cubes regards john

Thats seems to be the problem no one knows alot, M's are dime a dozen and ollies oh yes dont forget AC wd wc wd45, I thought maybe add some different colors. I wouldn want to go extreme but pulling second gear would be nice. I guess 3020 piston would press right on the rod or would I have to change rods. thanks

I myself have a soft spot for massey's i was raised around them my grandpa, dad and uncle all pulled them 25 years ago i had a 444 with 312 cu inch a few years back i just had pistons and sleeves from a 4020 gas in there with head work and a cam made aroun 75-80 hp The trouble with them is the head design they just don't flow well i want to build another one someday myself they really belong in 5500 pounds and under. The next big problem with them is no one knows anything about building them or is willing to take the time to do it they all want to build farmalls moline's and olivers thats why i say they belong in lighter less power clases.Regards john
