Or some other derivitive of a Farmall with a T/A. It's a legal cheat, that makes the choice of tractor easy. |

If you wanted to go with a diesel motor you could get a DT466 out of the international trucks and stick it in there if rules allow. There are many aftermarket parts for these motors as well as many out there making the parts to do the swap. But it seems everybody and their mother has a 460/560.

Do you plan on pulling heavy stock classes or are you looking to go open/MPH classes? What are the rules for the pulls you will be attending? Mine weighs 4400 with me on it. Has a worked over C-301. Will pull 5mph-no speed limit classes starting at 4500.

I would sure start with a 560. The 460 rear half is basically an H, and the 560 started life as an M, so the rear is lots stronger. It"s also a lot easier to swap bigger motors into a 560, if the need arises.

What weight classes are you wanting to pull? Are there speed limit or rpm limits to deal with? A 560 can be very competative up to 10000 lbs or more set up correctly. Its really a matter of what you want to do with it and how much you want to spend.
