I farmed with a 4430 putting out 200 hp on the dyno, and all it had done was the pump turned up. just kept turning on it untill we could pull what we wanted to, and kept adding wheel weights to it. Course eventually the rear end blew out after about 6 years of doing that. Around here in central Illinois they tell me you need at least 300 plus horse to pull at 8 mph.

Wimer fuel injection in pennsylvania, scheid diesel in indiana/illinois. Another good place with good prices is area diesel service in illinois. Ive got a 4430 i pull with. You are going to have to beef up the clutch. Then install injectors, pump and turbo. An 8 or 10 mph class is a good one to run and competitive without breaking the bank. Where are you pulling at?

If your only running 8 mph just turning the pump up will probably get you enough power. I know some of them 4430s put out over 200 with just pump work.

If you have the means to do it start with a 4440 or bore and sleeve that 404 to 466. Build them right and you will beat a red one any day of the week. This coming from a guy that runs red stuff lol

Its going to take alot more then 175 hp to run 8 mph at 10,000lbs. You can get close to 350hp by turning the pump up and a good 3lm 466 turbo. How much money do you want to spend is the big question? A 10mm A pump with a quick cam will be the best set up with different injectors. A good 3Lm turbo will get you through most stock classes for a turbo. A good cam wouldn"t be a bad idea either.

I pull 10,000 routinely at 9 MPH with my Ford 9000. I don't know the HP but it is supposed to be about 175. Beat a couple 4320s in the class Sat. and was inches from a 4450 in the 13,000. I was 2,000 lbs light LOL.

Theres a 9600 Ford in my area that pulls the 10 mph classes
at 8,000 lbs and at 10,000 lbs..It might be a little over 200
horsepower and its very competitive..
