I was going to post this in a recent post in response to a "whine" that someone posted about not being able to win without deep pockets. Rather I thought starting another thread to see what people have ot say would be more interesting. I do not agree but I want to see what peopel think. I think if you want to pull division three yeah you need a bunch of cash. Consequently I am not pulling at that level while I have a house payment. That is correct. Divorces cost to much. I find that what we call farm stock or division one/two a person can do well with minimal dollars in the tractor. What I see with people who never win is they never learn to see what the people who are winning are doing and copy or learn from them. Last fall I took my Super M with less than 60 hp into the local pull and beat several high powered Ms simply because they did not realize that with all the rain we had the week before the track had a bite to it that I had never seen before. She has a a lot of weight on the wheels so what weight I had to play with was up front. The guy who won the 6500 lbs class was JD A with a big heavy cast iron wide front and a creeper gear and nice set of 45 deg road wore tires*. (*Note - Good Tires) I was second or third and I killed it dead. The guys who had tractors who were just pullers were way behind us because their front ends were trying to immitate a 737 on take off. I am sure they would have beat us bad if they had taken the time to look at the classes before them i.e. 5000, 5500 and seen that the recurring theme throughout the evening was that the front ends of the tractors had a hard time staying on the ground. I like math so I have made an equation for having a smile at the end of pull. Smile = Ample Horsepower + Correct Tires + Skill Anyway let me know what you think. The picture is of a an item on my bulletin board in my office. It has been with me over decade and served me well as a reminder. |

| | I think both this post and the" help me" post are not very well done. This one for the one big paragraph and the Help Me for its content. To me Help Me was too hard to figure out because of a mix of BS and truth. I felt like telling that character to put some pants on and go mow the lawn. I think a lot of that goofeyness would stop if the Mods would stop peoples ability to do anonymous posting. Posts that have no spaces between sentences and or one huge paragraph are hard to read and keep up with. |

| 1.The gent said he did not have new matching tires 2.No creeper gear in IH M. 3.Didnt say he shouldnt pull, just advised it as poor investment. 4.I own and have pulled JD,won 2nd in a field of 8 tractors with unmodifed A. 5. To me the biggest $ is a truck and trailer,I cant afford this so can only drive the tractor to the pull. 6.Whineing and giving advice to someone that asked for it are not the same. |

| Normally I won't engage in negative discussions but since you felt compelled to respond here it goes. This is your exact statement from a recent post... "Unless you have deep pockets I would forget about pulling and invest your time and money in something where theres a better chance of winning like gambling or the lottery." I don't see how that statement would qualify as advice. It really bares the question that if one is so negative about pulling then why are you in this forum? |

| Started pulling 15 years ago, had a friend that had a tractor [B John Deere] that would always place in the top three.I ask him do you have any advice for a rookie puller? After several seconds of thought he replied Watch the people that win, watch the people that win.Ever since then I always sigh in later in the class so I can watch other tractors pull and see how to balance my tractors. Have taken a 60 HP [A John Deere] and beaten 90HP M Farmalls because they did not put any weight on the front and have done this for seveal years and they have never figured out why they can't win. |

| It looks like your sign is improperly printed. I believe that the bar should be over the letters. |
