Hey guys i have a question. NATPA rules state that div 3 is 3.5 mile per hour. I have talked to alot of guys that say you need so much horsepower for div 3. I fail to see this. I know a guy that pulls a 75 horse 88 Oliver in div 3 and he has done good for so many years and he has went to the nationals. I just fail to see where all this horsepower is going to help you at 3.5 mile an hour. Just a thought and thank you in advance! |

| Just show up at an NATPA event with with 100 horse and pull 6000 Div3 and let me know how that turns out for you. Yes the speed limit is 3.5 mph, but we pull in a gear that will make 6-7 mph. |

| You don't need that much. That's why they invented mile per hour classes. That is the great equalizer. You can have an Allia Chalmers with 75 hp get beat by another allis with 50. Just all depends on how good you can hook your tractor and how big a tire you can spin. Horse power does help a lot ,dont get me wrong but why spend BIG MONEY when you dont have to. Just go pull and have fun. |

| div2 60-75 hp will get you by, but 80-110 seems to win most consistently. Now div 3 add 20" hitch vs 18, more power, add 18.4 tires vs 15.5 tires more power, now cut tires, more power. SO in sum youre looking at 20-50 more hp depending on the weight class. |

| | At a NATPA Pull 75HP May Be Enough To Win Div 3 in the 3250lbs Class Where I pull my Super C But Oliver 88 is not alowed in that Class! I would Say To Win in 4000lbs Div 3 Needs 100 HP or More! To do Good with 75 Hp in 4000 is Possable But to Win Requires Larger HP at Most Tracks! At Most Tracks the Higher HP is Required to Get the Last 10 to 15 Feet to Win or be in the Top 3. Cliff S
