I have a question on hiring someone to haul for you. How do you insire that they are legitimate? I know most all the people dealing with the old iron are on the up and up. If someone answers an ad to have something hauled, how does a person be certain of their legitimacy? |

| Ask for a copy of DOT authorty and a copy of there cargo insurance. Once you have insurance info call there agent to confirm that they still have it. Make sure that they have enough insurance to cover your piece of equipment. Meaning if your stuff is worth $25,000 make sure they have that much insurance for cargo. Also find out if there is anything else on the trailer along with your stuff. If there is the coverage is good for everything that's one the trailer. So if the worst happens and all the stuff is now junk and your tractor is worth $25000 and the other guys stuff is worth $25000. Then you are screwed unless he has $50,000 in cargo insurance. Sorry so long winded but I own five trucks that haul equipment all over the US and hate seeing people hauling stuff that don't have the right stuff. |
