easier if u swap pulleys and reduction gear covers that way is a simple bolt on but if u want to keep your pulley and put the fast gears in it you got to machine your pulley down im in the process of slowing down my 43 b whith the gears out of a cyclone but i dont have the pulley and such so i need to have an bushing made

I pulled a 45 parts tractor I have apart today and compared the first reduction gear and pulley gear to the gear set out of a late styled B. There is one tooth difference per gear.
Late B 31-73 teeth, early 39-46 has 32-72 teeth. So there is about a 5% reduction using the late B set, but there is a problem. It would be easy to maching a bushing to get the late B pulley gear on the early pulley, but the shaft/spline size is different between the reduction gears. The late B has a larger diameter shaft.

The only thing I can think of doing to make it work is machine the outside of the early gear down to the ID of the outer ring on the later gear and machining it for the dowels as the late gear uses. If anyone has done this, id love to hear from them. Thanks

Jake

With this gear conversion, do you use the pulley gear and the large first reduction gear from a late B (47-52)? I have a 45 that id like to slow down a bit.

How much does it affect the gearing? Does it give you a creeper gear or does it just drop it a percentage? Also does the later first reduction gear fit on the input shaft to the transmission without any modification?

Thanks for any help

Jake

Thank You, so you think the newer side cover and all will bolt right on? I really appreciate the information.

just build a bigger engine, I personally dislike beer pullers, ;ie a tractor that someone can drink a beer before it gets to the end of the track, around here the sun set on creeper gear pullers a long time ago

DP, this is easy, I'll just trade you this 6-2 with new 6.25" pistons for those 14.9 tires/rims we talked about, and you can put some 13.6's on there and your problems will be solved... Too bad everything wasn't this easy.

Doug, good point, now I'm confused... He shouldn't need creeper gear. That B he has should run at lesat 3-4MPH. Once you get out of 1st gear, they are similar.

According to the book for the 41-46 it's

2.5, 3.25, 4.25, 5.25, 7.33 and 12.5MPH with 10-38 tires at 1150 RPM

The later ones (47-52) are as follows

1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, 5.75 and 10 MPH with 10-38 tires at 1250 RPM's

I don't think it's as easy as swapping them in an A. Some machining required. If there was an easy way, I'd swap you. I could use something between 5th and 6th. The early 5th gear would be pretty nice.
