Have several pieces of new sheet metal for my tractors. They come with a black primer on them. Can these pieces be oversprayed with epoxy primer or does what ever the black material is have to be removed? Thanks |

| Do as Butch says and remove it. Or it might remove itself later. I look at most pre-primed parts as rust prevention, and perhaps not very good at that. |

| When I buy repro sheet metal parts I prefer to remove the supplied primer as quite often it is shot over dirt, surface rust and the preservative oils on the metal. Others simply sand and paint it. Take a good look at the parts, if there is any evidence of flaking and dirt under the coating or if it easily flakes off when scraped with a knife you better get rid of it. |
