hard to say what was put on the hood by the dealer. generally, a urethane clear will not spider crack. old lacquer clears could do that. i would try buffing with a fine compound like 3, finesse-it and see what happens. if the cracks/scratches are not that deep, you may be able to get them out. |

| i would not wet sand first, hitting with the buffer would be the safest. its the least intrusive in case it is some type of chemical or calcium that was in the ice when it melted. it could have been something the dealer sprayed on the hood too, if there was a minor repair done to it before it was sold on the lot. |
