I have two JD tractors that need repainting when painted I used Imron paint .What should I do so I do not what do sand blast it all so the paint will stick and not peel of eventually

| The problem with painting over existing paint is you don't know what is going on underneath. It could be rusting under the original paint and even though you painted it with Imron when the original paint comes off it will take everything over it off too. You could degrease and scuff the paint with 400 grit sandpaper and topcoat again but if you are having to paint the tractor again I suspect there is a problem below it. The only way to be sure you have a good paint job is to take it down to bare metal and start fresh. The sheetmetal could be done with abrasive discs however the cast really needs to be sandblasted. I know its a pain but I think its worth it.

| Provided the surface is sound with no rust underneath, sand with 400, prime with epoxy primer and topcoat with Imron or another quality paint. If there is rust underneath, you have to take to bare metal. You may have to wire wheel the cast as it does not sand very well. You might get enough roughness with a scotchbrite pad, I have never tried that. If you used Imron, why does it need repainting?
