Used PPC Phix (Link Below) as a primer. Haven't looked up under the hood yet to see how it's holding up, I will the next time I am around the tractor and report back. Comes in pint can or aerosol. It does also come in satin black, silver or stainless steel. The factory grey looks most original like "cast iron" [Reply]  [No Email]

You can find hi-temp paint at most any auto store that also claims to withstand temperatures to 1200 degrees. So, that begs the question, is the cast blast any better than these paints? If it's a working tractor then even the hi temp paint will not last very long. I have painted some on a couple of my tractors that are only ran at shows and they still look great after several years. I have a JD Model A with a manifold and pipe that has been ceramic coated and it looks like new even after plowing and working it pretty hard. [Reply]  [No Email]

I do treat the manifold with phosphoric acid before painting to "kill" any rust that may be hidden away in the pores of the casting. That seems to help a lot to keep the rust from coming back. I them paint them with JD black muffler paint. Works for me. [Reply]  [No Email]
