I have a 1955 ford 640 and am trying to determin the proper hood color. I think it's all supposed to be red but I see the same year with a grey center and red sides. How do I determin the right combination? The hand sanding I have done hasn't reviled any grey but did see the reminants of the old vertical ford 640 decal . The tractor has 3pt pto and 3 sp trans and 134 eng. |

I am using Tractor Red "Vermillion Red". 70075 DT 3272 PPG Shopline, or I believe Omni depending on the paint dealer, for my 641. Single stage urethane. This may not be quite period correct as this is a blood red color and the 600 series were a little more towards an orange red rather than this red. However I like this color more than the organe red.
I think the power master, maybe 680 had the centre of the hood in gray, the 600's were all red except the grille.
Some of the others may help out, I hope

| I went to google images and all of the ones they had there from 1954 thru 1957 had the tin as grey and the cast red. You might post your message on the Ford forum. |
