I work at a truck dealership in Washington and we have a customer tht is working on a 1948 D-model Gibson. Does anyone know about the brakes and wheel cylinders? I maybe mistaken even that I have a model D. It probally needs adjusting. Here's what the manual says. "The brake drums are mounted on the rear axles and enclosed in the rear axle housing. The brake bands should be loose enough to allow a slight free movement of the pedals before the brakes are engaged. Adjustment is made by means of an adjusting nut and lock nut on the top of each rear axle housing.To tighten the brake bands, loosen the lock nuts and turn turn the adjusting nut clockwise until a slight drag is felt on the brakes. Then back off slightly and retighten the lock nuts. Hope this helps. [Reply]  [No Email]
