the starter on my 460DT is kaput. does anyone have any tips on removal before i begin? looks like i might need to remove the steering hydraulic pump to make enough room to back the starter out.paul |

| Do NOT open the pump. Remove the whole thing. Some require an allen wrench, some require a 10mm socket. |

| You are correct. The steering pump has to come off first. |

| thanks for the reply. i was afraid of that. without having to start a new thread "Long 460 steering pump removal" do you have any tips. looks like there's a cover held on by hex bolts which may give me enough room to get the starter out. or should i just take the whole pump off which looks like i'll need the allen wrenches. |
