aurora 01-11-2010 19:27:07 24.231.200.171 22104 Report to Moderator	Re: 1956 gibson tractor in reply to pam collins, 01-11-2010 18:02:15   well, you could list it on this site in the Tractors for sale section for "best Offer" and see what kinds of offers you get, or troll through the photo ad archive for gibsons already sold or list it on ebay with a 2000.00 reserve and see how high it gets bid to, or post a photo here with a desription (does it run, how good/bad are the tyres, any cracked castings or welds? any non-reversable modifications, ect) and see what opinions it generates... Prices vary from locality to locality, but a fairly nice gibson will bring 500.oo to 1500.oo depending on these factors plus whether or not it has any implements (plow, blade, scufflers, ect.) that come with it. Thats assuming your 1956 gibson is a small tiller steered "D" or "SD". A "super D", or the larger "E", "H" or "I" models will bring considerably more as they are a bit rarer.   [Reply]   [No Email]

aurora 01-11-2010 20:05:12 24.231.200.171 22106 Report to Moderator	Re: 1956 gibson tractor in reply to pam collins, 01-11-2010 19:34:21   The "D", "SD" and "Super D" were small garden tractors with a single cylinder air-cooled wisconsin engine, 12 inch tyres on the front and 22 or 24 inch tyres on the rear. The "S" and "SD" have a tiller bar steering set up on it and the "Super D" has a steering wheel instead. The "SD" & "Super D" have hoods covering the engine and the "D" does not. I have seen many "D" and "SD" tractors converted to a steering wheel because it is a more familiar set up to drive, so a steering wheel may not be original to the tractor. Post a photo in the "Help Identify" section of this site and you will get plenty of responses! A "E" series gibson is a large garden or small farm tractor with a twin cylinder air-cooled wisconsin engine, 24 inch rear tyres, drop axles with bull gears and a platform about 3 feet off the ground where you sit. An "H" has a 4 cylinder water cooled hercules engine and is a small to medium (at that time) farm tractor and the even larger "I" model has a 6 cylinder hercules engine, also water-cooled.   [Reply]   [No Email]
