1974 Long 445 tractor. Power steering and 3 point lift problems. Tractor is very difficult to steer with a load on spear or when using loader. At times the 3 point lift will bounce up and down, also the longer it is used the tractor 3 point lift will not support the weight, the 3 point starts bleeding down to the point it will not lift or support the weight of a bale of hay any longer. I have replaced the power steering filter and fluid, drained and replaced all universal tractor fluid and cleaned the screen, did not correct the problem. always works after tractor has set idle or cooled down a while. Lift always raises and lowers with out weight on it. If any body has any advice please respond. Thanks, Bobby S. |

| Does the draft/position lever have any adjustment in the linkage? Seems mine will hold position with the lever all the way in position control but, It won't raise all the way till I move the lever about 1/2 way between position and draft. Any ideas? |

| Try adjusting the responsiveness lever near the right front of the lift under the seat. Counterclock wise allows more oil flow to the lift and vice versa. The lift has a position control function and a draft control function. This is determined by the small lever near the right rear and beneath the main control lever. Flipped up is draft control and down is position control. This is most likely the cause of the lift dropping all the way down as you describe. It is in draft control mode and should be in position control mode when you move your bales. Hope this helps. |

| Mine has some of the same symptoms. You can't turn the wheels unless your moving. Then is really easy.
The lift bouncing is oil bypassing the seals on the cylinder.
I think you need to do the same thing I do. rebuild both hydraulic pumps and all new o-rings and seals on the lift.
My tph is still working but, it won't hold position after it drops about 1/2 way down.
It's a winter project for me as I still have to do a little farming with it |
