If it was my tractor and had been sitting for a while I would take the round cover off of the front of the timing gear cover. Take out the two bolts that attach the gear to the drive hub on the pump shaft. Now see if the injection pump turns freely, it more than likely will turn a little bit as you take out the last bolt, if it does you know the pump is not locked up.
Now you will have to retime it, however that is better than buying another pump.

| Thank you that sounds like a good idea. I hard about the screwdriver test a few times but not in enough detail to know for sure.
