inter_e 02-26-2013 17:05:24 108.79.221.167 Report to Moderator	Hello and thank you for taking the time to read this. I am new to this site and just inherited what appears to be a 47-49 Oliver HG. I am having problems getting oil pressure to my new gauge. I have it screwed into the oil port behind the starter. I have changed the oil after flushing the system, screwed in the adjustment regulator behind the generator after checking the spring for breakage, got a brass pipe for the oil filter with a couple holes in it, and short of pulling the top cover off which looks like a pain or dropping the oil pan to inspect the pump, I think I have covered everything else? Am I missing something? When I pull the filter and crank it over, I get oil pushing up out of the outlet but not forcefully. I heard that these don't have great oil pressure but I can't even get oil into the new clear tube to the gauge. I don't know enough about these crawlers and I don't want to damage the motor if I am missing something. Please let me know if you have any idea's or think I am missing something while I search this site for answers. Thanks, Steve [Reply]   [No Email]

I signed up for Cletrac and have not been authorized yet and I ordered a service manual from Zimmerman. I plowed with it today and it did great. I"m going to drop the oil pan and check out the pump. Zimmerman also said that just because I don"t hear any bearing noise, they could be worn out and not letting me get enough pressure. I guess I will know soon after dropping the pan. A new engine will read 35 psi when cold which will drop to 20 at rated speed when hot and to 15 at idle. At least that is what mine does with 15 w 40 oil. A well used engine can drop to 5 at idle when hot. So you will not see anything on a gauge at chranking speed on an old engine. If to pumps oil to the filter then I would think it would be safe to start and see what you have running. If it has not run for a long time I would blow air back through the gauge line to be sure it is clear. Go to the "Cletrac.org" site for more on these tractors! [Reply]  [No Email]
