A couple of questions about the 880 that I am working on.

Can I replace the oil pan gasket without pulling the motor?

I am setting up one side of the hydraulic unit to operate a single acting cylinder. I have the momentary restrictor but the pal nut was gone and I need to know where the standard setting should be.

This tractor has the filter conversion on the transmission, it has a pressure gauge that I will need to replace. How much pressure would the pump put out so I can get a gauge that will work.

That’s all the questions for now.

I decided to dissasemble the restrictor too see if it is a momentary or standard restrictor. I was wondering if someone had been playing with yellow paint but they ahave the correct internals. I have attached the pages from the parts manual if anyone is interested.

AJB-830 that restritor should have been painted yellow from the factory according the the shop manual. A spring and valve were the only difference between the momentary and standard restrictors.

John, I believe the restrictor we used was the same green one that the tractor came with. It seemed to work fine with the one-way cylinder. If I get to the farm tomorrow, I will take a closer look at it. Think I did hear or read there was a yellow one too. Al

I have the owners manual and an Oliver shop manual. I have figured out how to plumb it but the momentary ristrictor didn't have the PAL nut so after I cleaned everything up I am not sure were to start. I guess I will start in the middle and see if it works. I plan to use a small cylinder to lift the bar on a sickle mower. Al if there is any info on the momentarty ristrictor my e-mail is johnschoenauer@q.com The shop manual dosen't give a starting point.

John, I might still have that restrictor in my shop. If I can find it, I can take a picture of it. Been about 10 years since I took it off the 770. I am not sure, but I think they might be the same on both sides as I think then can stay on with 2-way. I took mine off because it tended to leak oil. But with it off, a heavy implement drops real fast. Al

Answer to the first question is yes. On the second question: Do you have a book? If I remember right and 40+ years ago guys that ran single acting cylinders I could count on one hand but I think you need to convert the left side to single acting. I don't remember a basic adjustment on that restrictor, it is like its name it restricts the flow of oil to knock the check valve off of its seat. I don't know what the size of your one way cylinder is but make sure the reservoir has the capacity to handle the cylinder. Number 3 pressure is not that high the average 25-30 psi oil pressure gauge should work fine.It hust needs a couple of pounds for positive oil feed to the top shaft.

My dad bought a new 770 that he converted the left port to single acting based on information from the dealer. I do know it had the restrictor that was mentioned which was connected to a hose that ran the return oil back to the reservoir. I converted it back to two-way a few years ago. I still have the book as there is a description of how to do it. Can make a copy of those pages and email them to you if you need them. Not sure if it has to be the left port but it was on ours. I still have the 770. Al
