If this scrapper is a private individual then $500-$600 is probably about the max he would get at a local scrapyard. That said if the scrapper is a scrap yard itself then $750 or more is probably about right. Remember the scrap yards do get more money for the stuff they sell as compared to what they pay out for the stuff they buy. Basically they are only buying iron to turnaround a resell it for a profit. Certainly not unreasonable for the scrapyard to expect the same profit they would get for an item as sending it to the smelter would produce. [Reply]  [No Email]

The yard I deal with, will tell me. If I buy one out of there, and he didn't have any labor invested other than unloading it then loading it for me, he'll tack on 50 bucks and it's mine.
