Bought a 71 4500, got it home driving about a mile to load it on trailer, unloaded it, changed trans oil and fliter and drove it closer to house to pressure wash, seemed fine, went out next morning and it wont move. It is a 4 speed power reversing. Just got service manual but not sure were to go. I used carquest oil with the 145 listed. There was some water in oil mocha colored but no metal on magnet. Is there a flushing procedure or any hints. thanx steve |

| What oil did you put into the trans? At least once a year we'd get in a unit that somebody had put put the wrong oil (usually el-cheapo hyd/trans from "farm" store)into their machine. It would either eat the glue on the reversing clutch packs, or swell the facings. This makes it try to go into forward and reverse at the same time. Ford/New Holland 134 fluid is a parafinic base stock. Most of the Cheap Charlie oils are napthinic base stocks. |
