Has anyone had experience replacing the seals in the delivery nozels out of the fuel pumpt. They are directly under the bushings that tighten in the each cylinder part? I can't get anyone to work on the pump here, but a diesel repair shop indicates it's the seals / "o" rings. The pump works good. The engine starts quickly and runs great. But, considerable fuel leaks from couple of these line ports out of the pump. And, the leakage is not from the lines or connections to the pump. |

| A couple of years ago the o rings were leaking on my 2255. After research I decided that it was a better choice for me to send the pump in for the repairs. I beleive that Diesel Injection (Louisville,KY) charged me about $150 to replace the seals. This was with me bringing in the pump. To time the pump, you will need a special tool that looks like a punch with step on the end. It was not a hard task to remove and reinstall the pump. Just keep in mind that the 3150 pump is quite heavy. Good luck, Stu. |

| You would need the special tool to remove the nuts that hold the barrel down inside the pump. (5P1668 wrench and 8S2244 extractor) You could just remove the nut and replace the o/r. More than likely the o/r will get pinched due to spring pressure, as well as getting some dirt down past the barrel to where it seats in the housing. When you tighten the nut back down the dirt can damage the pump housing allowing fuel to go out of the fuel galley of the injection pump into the cam area of the pump housing and eventually into the crankcase. Are you scared yet??? A pump assembly (plunger and barrel) can jump a tooth in the rack and maybe bind, or cause low fuel delivery to a cylinder and cause a miss or run away. Bottom line is each individual pump assembly needs removed disassembled, cleaned, sealing surfaces lapped(delivery valve, barrel and bonnnet) before reassembling. It may be possible to just remove the bushing (nut) and replace the o/r. Cleanliness is key and paying attention to what your doing. If you pull a nut loose the whole pump assy may pop right out of the rack and not be timed correctly when you put it back in. Any good CAT dealer can fix that pump for you also. I've went thru a few 3208, and 3406 injection pumps before. I never had to take a 3150 pump apart before, but is identical to replacing resealing pump assmeblies on a 3406 pump.
