This morning On Maxs tractor shed he announced that that Cockshutt 40 was the first tractor tested with live PTO. I got out wendells tractor test book and it also states the cockshutt40 as being first tested in june of 1950. oliver 77 RC was tested in sept. of 1949,66 standard in june 1949,66 RC also june 49,77standard nov.1948, first 77 RC nov. 48, and 88 in oct. of 47. I don't know if a cocksutt of another model with a live PTO was tested before this or not, but the true first live PTO was 20 years ahead of this on Hart Parr's in the 20's |

| | Gary, The info on TV was all wrong. The first Cockshutt tested with live pto was the model 30. This was just ahead of the Oliver 88. You are correct about the Hart Parr PTO being first, but they were not tested in Nebraska. As far as Max Armstrong, I have met him several times. I think he is the most over rated, uninformed broadcaster on radio or TV. |
