Ollie Oliver 08-30-2012 06:48:02 70.198.3.140 Report to Moderator	I have an 1855 that has been a hydraulic leaking nightmare for as long as I can remember. Brought it into the shop last night after baling and was going to tackle some of the leaks. Went into the shop this morning and now there are two pretty big puddles of hydraulic oil that came out of the brakes on each side. Where is it coming from, and why would it happen simultaniously to both sides at the same time when it has never happened before? I have been trying to dig into this problem around the net, and may be onto it seeing as I put a different brand of hydraulic oil in it. From my readings, some say to use a certain type of hyd. oil instead of another because things like this may happen from it being too thin or something like that? If anyone knows a solution to this problem I"m all ears. Thank you for any help in advance [Reply]   [No Email]

I found out that one of the three brake discs had wore down to the metal backer, causing the brake piston to have to move beyond the seal area. I am not sure if the 1855 brake system is the same, but it sure sounds suspious since you had been working on steep grades. [Reply]  [No Email]

The whole pto unit was taken out and rebuilt a couple years ago, and has not seen much action since. I am just perplexed how it just suddenly happened like this though. We were on some steep inclines and declines while baling, so maybe some leaked in there somehow because of that perhaps? [Reply]  [No Email]

How often do you use the PTO? If like around here, once or twice a year put a plug in the line at the PTO valve & line and see if the leak stops or at least slows down. [Reply]  [No Email]
