I was talking to the 2nd shift maintence man last week about tractors and he said his mother had 2 88 diesels that had belonged to his Dad she wanted to sell. I said I might be interested. He said one was a runner and the other hadn't been run in about 10 years. They want $1500 for the runner and $1000 for the non-runner. He said they would come down if someone wanted them both. I went to look at them this afternoon. The supposed runner hadn't been run in 4 or 5 years, hood is off, no pipe from air cleaner to manifold, can over intake manifold, Pulled the dipstick, milky sludge on stick, didn't see any oil, checked the hydraulic, no oil, BUT it does have fender extensions!. The other one is setting under a tree with a flat rear tire, engine stuck. It had a newer style hydraulic unit with no oil and a small tree growing thru the frame. I told him I didn't know if I would have enough time to get either of them running. Looked like load them on a trailer and weigh them for a price. Think I'll pass. Chris |

| Been following my adventures with my $1000 Super 55? That one looked like a solid good running tractor that just needed o-rings on the sleaves. I'll have at least $2500 in that one just to get it going mechanically. More by the time the paint and decals are done. They ain't cheap to dig in to. |
