I am about to put my injection pump shaft back into my tractor. I just put new seals on the shaft, hoping that this is the reason I am leaking fuel oil into the oil pan. The manual says I can pull the shaft out the front and so that is what I did. The guy that rebuilt my pump a couple years ago told me I have to take the pump off and to put the shaft back in my pump. My manual says I can put my shaft back in while the pump is on the tractor, and to me that seems easiest.Does anyone know of a reason why I have to take the pump off the tractor to get the shaft in? Thanks. I would call the guy again but I don't want to bother him with anymore questions. I figured someone would know on this site. |

| Yes keep the throttle in the full throttle position. I always used a wire. (throttle rod was unhooked). Take the hub off of the shaft so you can make sure the seals enter the pump without cutting the new seals. Put a little grease on them first. The nut holding the hub needes to be torqued properly. Double check your timing when you are done. |

| I have put mine in while the pump was on the tractor with no problems.I do remember something about keeping the throttle in wide open position while removing the shaft though, and it needs to stay in that position until the shaft is replaced.Someone will hopefully correct me if i am wrong on that. |
