| | There you go, buy the used governor from danielky This will get your governor issues behind you. Use the spring and spacers from your tractor so the high idle is original. Your DD mech should know this however. Also, your experienced DD guy should know of several parts suppliers for these engines? He should know how to find replacement bearings using the numbers off the old one. |

| | I agree with J.S. totally, what is wrong with your governor. I have replied to some of your earlier posts and get the general assumption that someone "repaired" your tractor that didn't know what they were doing. No offense, but the best thing for you to do is have a experienced DD mechanic come out and help you. If you're mechanically experienced maybe the DD mech will give you an hour's advice for $100 or so and get you on the right track. There are several retired DD mechanics that would be glad to help you, however finding them will take a little searching. What part of the country are you located? Maybe some of the guys here can help you out. Including me. Good luck! |

| O. K. You will need to find a Detroit Diesel dealer that was an industrial dealer as that governor was not used on 53 series truck engines. There used to bekits to rebuild those governors as well. What is the problem with your governor? |

| Did you see the bearing? I need to look at a picture to remind me of that governor & linkage but something does not add up here. Can you tell us why you redid the head and did you change injectors and if so to what size? A set of bearings would be cheaper than a governor. What all have you done to the engine. Did you set the injector with the correct pin? What did you set the valves to? How about a little history of the tractor engine at least. J. |
