An old friend of my grandpas wants to sell me her deceased hubands Co-op e3 diesel. I know little to nothing about these. I"m more of a green guy. I was told it was running when parked in the barn and the sheet metal is off from it because he was getting ready to paint it when he passed. I"m going to look at it tomorrow night and was wondering if there is anything to watch out for on these. I trust them, but still want to look and I don"t want a money pit. Are parts hard to find and how rare are these. I"ve found a few gassers on the web but no diesels yet. What would something like this be worth assuming it just needs painted and reassembled. Thanks

I have only seen a few Cockshutt 30 diesels in over 40+ years around Shutts. And, as "common" as the 30/E3 was, I have never seen a true E3 diesel. Unfortunately, out of the 30+ thousand Cockshutt 30/E3's produced, I am not aware of a way to know how many were diesels from the factory.

Went and looked at it. Sn is 30 33418. From what I can find its a 52? Everything looks to be there except the generator and brake drums. Looks to be in good shape except the paint, seat, and minor rust on the fenders. Said it last ran in 2010. Cannot start it without putting the starter, radiator, etc back on but has been inside. What's a fair price for this? Has 1 set of wheel weights and brand new firestones on the rear with good rims.

The tractor can have either a Bosch PSB or APE injection pump. When was the last time it was run? With the PSB make sure you do the screw driver test before you try to start the tractor or even turn it over by hand! Questions? J.

Hello: The coop E3 is simply a rebadged and repainted Cockshutt 30. E4 was a Cockshutt 40
They were good tractors, usually Buda engines and a bit prone to head failure. Early Cockshutts were recoloured(oops canadian spelling computer does not like) Olivers, up to 1947, when Cockshutt brought out their own tractor. First with Live PTO. a lot of the components interchanged with Oliver. I would not call it rare, but a real good tractor.Blessings

Now Caleb if it is closer to me...

Caleb is correct not many diesel E3s, parts for the rest of the tractor are easy to come by.

e3 diesels are a rare tractor but the injection pumps are always a money pit if needed worked on we dont see them everyday and I would jump on it while you have the chance. If you arent interested get ahold of me I would love to add one to my collection .
