I have a flywheel from an Oliver than has gotten rusty while removed from the tractor while I am restoring it. What is the easiest way to clean up the area where the clutch disc goes? Steel wool? At what point does the flywheel need machined? The clutch disc is about 50% and didn't shimmy or slip before I tore out the tractor.

| Flywheels are something that needs to be handled by a flywheel/clutch repair facility. If there is something wrong with it, they will advise accordingly. There could be hidden flaws that can cause bodily harm. They will resurface it and remove all rust so it looks and operates like new.
