Hello, I recently bought a White 2-85 and am still waiting for my manual. Just a question about the hydraulics. I was cutting hay and it didn't seem to lift very fast and made more of a squealing noise than I am used to from my other tractor. My haybine has a single acting cylinder, is there a setting I need to make to use that type of cylinder? Where do I check the oil level? Hopefully the manual arrives soon...

Thanks,

Hytran works fine, and if you have other tractors that use it, that's what you should use to keep it simple and keep from mixing oils too much.

As far as the squeeling, that's the bypass. Which direction on the lever raises the head? It should be hooked up to raise when you pull back on the lever. If it chatters when lowering, or lowers extremely slow, the restrictor needs to be adjusted on the back of the valve body.

Thanks for the reply. I have added oil and it seems
better. Still squeals some, especially when hot.
Was using it on my round baler today and noticed it
when ejecting a bale. On the haybine with the
single cylinder, I pulled back on the lever to raise
it.

the oil dipstick for the hydraulics is on the back of the tractor above the top 3point anchor

Thanks Bradwi. Checked and nothing on the dipstick. Do I just add more in that same spot? Is Case-IH Hytran alright or does it need something more specific?

yes add in same spot if it is really low keep an eye on the level. If the pto seals are shot it will pump the hyd. oil in the differential case.I have never used that hy-tran stuff, don't know the specs on it. I just use regular hydraulic oil. Someone else will probably chime in on that hytran fluid
