We have a 1955 that does not have any working hydraulics. This includes power steering, 3 pt, or PTO engagement. We believe this is caused by a bad servo valve, but haven't had the chance to tear into it yet.
What does anyone else think the problem may be?
Thanks for your input. |

| Well, the shaft was pulled, and the splines check out fine, so that's not the cause of the problem. I guess it's on to the hydraulic pump, unloader valve, and/or compensator.
The hydraulic pump will pump oil, so would it be the compensator or unloader valve?
Thanks in advance. |

| Make sure your long shaft going up to the flywheel is still turning. The splines may have stripped. That would be my first check. |

| J.,
We haven't checked for leaks or the compensator setting. Like I said, we haven't had a chance to look into it; there are too many other projects on the farm, as you can probably agree. Hopefully we can take a look at it soon. I appreciate your advice.
I don't have the operator's manual handy, but what should the compensator setting be, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks again. |

| Well by your description it is not the servo valve because the servo valve does not have anything to do with the PTO and power steering.Does the pump pump? Have you made any leakage checks like from the unloader valve.Have you stuck a gauge in the system and got anykind of reading for how the compensator is set? |
