I just bought an Oliver side rake on steel. I know what a #2 model looks like with the wind shield on the front. This one is earlier and I would think they called it a #1 but just want to confirm. I'm not finding much information about it. I saw a picture of one but it didn't have any model info on it. Nice rake other than being froze up on the adjustment handles. No breaks or welds. I'll probably use it on the first cutting just to get it all working again. Any one else have one or just confirm it is called a #1. Thanks.

Hello all, I think I DO have one of these too, although I have to cut the locust tree down that has grown up between the bars! Love those DARN thorns! I will try to get some pics and see if they are the same, mine has the big drive wheels also and I can't remember if it has 1 or 2 rear wheels. Will follow up after this snow storm, IF I can find it before spring! I would like to see if they are the same. God bless all.
Sincerely,
Jeff

I took some shots now that it's off the trailer. It is 51 tooth high wheeled with double trailer wheels with Tedder option. Should be a 1-B model from what I'm hearing. If someone could confirm it that would be great. If someone knows the dates of production that is even better. Just looking it seems as though wheels are red and body is dark green. If anyone knows of any other colors of parts on here just let me know.

When I was young we had one of these Oliver rakes. As I recall it had red wheels and the balance was green. It like yours. I dont know
when they were made except they are in the
Book of Oliver volume three which I belive
was printed in 1936. So it was made then.

In the thirts Oliver had three sizes 45, 48,and 51-tooth. They were No.1-A The 1-B had a tedder attachement. The 1940 price book only shows the 51 tooth.

You could have a #1 or a #2.

The #1 had the tall steel drive wheels. They were built up to the late 1940's. Most had only one tail wheel, but if a second rear wheel was added, the mounting bracket was bolted to the other wheel mounting bracket.

The #2 came out in the 1940's and was sold at the same time as the #1. The first #2 rakes had the smaller steel drive wheels and didn't have the windshild across the front. On this model the second rear wheel bracket will extend straight foward and bolt to the angle rake frame. The windshield was added to the #2 rakes about the same time as they started using rubber tires.
