I am looking at a Oliver 2150 that I found for sale and I was wondering if anyone could give me opinions on the price. The gentleman is wanting $4500.00. The problems are the over and under are out on the hydro and on rear rim is shot and the back tires are no good, it has 20.8 x 38 on the back. The motor is sound, the transmission and rearend do not make any odd noises when drove, tinwork is straight, 3pt. and hydraulics are good, and the tractor has the planetary rearend. I farm with 3 Olivers and have restored 4 older olivers but I have not been around a 2150 to know what their value is. If I bought the tractor I would fix it and use it on the farm. Anybodys insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

If over and under are out then most likely the 4 bolts that hold the gears inside have come out and broke.

First of all 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive? On the over/under: At least one of the ranges must work since you can drive it. Now which one(s) work and which one(s) do not. There were several update kits for that engine. Does it look like they wre added? Does it have spin on oil filters + a bypass oil filter. What is the model of the injection pump? Is it a PSJ or a model 100. How about fuel filters/ Start there and post a serial number: Do factory duals go with it?

I have a 2050 and have a question about the oil filters. My spin on filters appear to leak from the base and is making quite a mess. I need to clean it up and get a better look, but it appears to leak from the casting itself. Also, when were the bypass filters added and why. I've often wondered about that and how often should it be changed.

I need to scratch the memory a little bit. The bypass filter was added to the 2150 tractors. We had more 2050 tractors around here than the 2150's. When you start the tractor do you tend to move the throttle to a faster engine speed? Those engines do not like that and engine oil pressure can build up which is one of the causes of leaks in the filter area. I remember having customers with the same complaints and you need to carefully check those adapter plates carefully for being flat. Also some gaskets just seam to leak.
