Saw an ad for an Oliver 1250 with loader, engine needing work. Is that the Fiat brand they had for awhile? I hear these are hard to get parts for, and when found empty your pockets! Should I stay away? Or, am I way off here? $1500 is asking price. |

It is a tractor made in Italy for the year 1970. I have one that I use regularly. It has been a good tractor. Parts are a little hard to find.

I'm thinking the 1250 is one to stay away from- 1250A and 1255 were much better. I think the 1250 used an oddball engine that was a real problem.

The original 1250 was a 4 cylinder Italian millitary surplus engine. No parts available. The 1250A wasn't actually decaled that way,but had a 3 cylinder. That's the way to tell the difference.

He did not say if it was a gas or a diesel model These imported gas tractors form the 1960's are harder to find parts for than the diesel versions. There are more gas David Brown tractors in the USA than there are in the UK. The B model gas IH units are not any better.
