I am looking at a 2-70. It needs rear tires. It has 18.4x34s. I have an 880 Oliver that I will retire to shows if I get the 2-70. It has new 15.5x38s. Can I switch just the rims? |

Thanks, lots of good info. Was trying to figure out something to save money. $1700 for tires, whew! Thinking we might just put a new tube in the one thats flat and use it for now, that's if we can come to an agreeable price.

The casts centers are probably different diameter also just like your rims, 34 verses 38. Just a thought.

That is something you'll have to determine/answer for yourself. We've got five 1850's here and so help me everyone of them is different. Often times anything will fit something else if you've the parts and where with all. Right now, we're putting 11.4 x 38's tires in place of 12.4 x 34's to get us 2" higher/freer adjustment on the hay pickup our 554 Vermeer baler. Essentially, the clamps are different for our rim mount change over, this time. Fernan

The rims should interchange though if they both have cast centers shouldn't they? As long as neither one is a power adjust, those rims were all about the same.

I think the 880 might have the small dogs (clamps)that wedge against the rim and the 2-70 has the larger ones.

I think you would have to put back what you take off the 880 and you would have to change the wedge blocks on the 2-70 to make a 38 wheel fit where a 34 was if the 2-70 is like our 1755 they lock to the rim diferant anyway I think you could cange the center and all and get by but it is not going to look good on a show tractor
