12v conversion diode or resistor

Now that radio shack is gone, does anyone have a source for a resistor or diode that I could put in the wire going to the #2 terminal on my Delco alternator, Currently when I start my tractor, it won't shut off unless I unplug the alternator. I'm not sure of the specs I need.

Find the wire that goes to your coil. Run that wire through your switch on the front. When you shut that switch off it will shut all power off to your coil. norm

OTHING in the #2 lead, as that is the voltage sensing input to the regulator.
Almost any diode in the 3 ampere & up range will be fine, even one of the diodes of the 'diode trio' of an old alternator.
Resistor originally used in the GM cars & trucks was 10 Ohms at 6.25 Watts. BUT, in the #1 lead!
 
The #2 lead should be hooked to the charge stud on the alternator and the #1 wire is where you need the diode. A common ballast resister will do the job or a light bulb will also do the job. I have an Oliver Super 88 wit ha ballast resister in line and if has been that way since before I got it
 
ditto what the others said.

#2 lead straight to charge lug, and a lamp/diode/resistor in #1 lead from coil side of key.

I like the 194 bulbs just as much as diodes.

key on = lamp on, after startup and over 400 rpms and charging, lamp off.

idiot lamp just like gm intended.
 
Thanks, I had typed that out wrong, I like the idiot light method, Is the indicator light/ socket something I could pick up locally, Maybe drill a hole in the dash for it?
