12 volt generator

Just keeps hitting me lately how ugly and looks
like a true botched, patched mess with the old ugly
alternator hanging out the side..Just about
anything would look better..I have an original
spring loaded 2N bracket--can I get a 12 volt
generator? What are my options? Thanks

I'll have to check with our local good ole country boy generator, alternator, starter shop fellow..

I wont go into the aesthetics of an alternator conversion. Some folks don"t like their looks on an old tractor. Some people don"t mind.
But I will say that going to a "stealth" conversion with a 12V generator only gives you half of the benefits of using a 12V alternator.
You will still be dealing with a VReg which are notoriously China made junk these days and a charging system with limited output and does not charge at idle.
Just something to think about.

The local shop here converted a 12v to 6v by changing the field coils. My guess is that's all they need to do to make a 6v generator a 12v generator. If they don't have any 12v field coils, email me.

my formerly 6v 950 is running with a 12v gen from Rickb's old 801D.. running witht he old vreg he sent me too!

good stealth conversion.

A small case Hitachi alternator fits and looks better than the often used bigger case 12si delco alternators.

OK thanks-thought I'd see the guy today but didn't. Maybe I'll see him tomorrow..actually I'm hoping he will have a generator also--mine Is all to pieces if I even still have it-original bracket is good though..
